J-Dormitory Building
Flexible, Neutral, Universal Muji-style residence
It is a teachers’ dormitory of an international school in Japanese style, mainly for Vietnamese children.
Teachers are coming from Japan and other countries around the world, and we were required to design a dormitory that accommodates diverse lifestyles.
Since the living space is the culture itself, different ethnic groups naturally have different forms of housing.
On the contrary, living styles are not the same even if they live next to each other in the same apartment of the same ethnicity.
So we proposed a flexible, neutral and universal living space.
That said, it is not a room with nothing. Is it MUJI’s style?
It is a space there are no principles, and as a result, is itself strong principles.
We think it is one of the directions for housing where diverse people live.
